Reacting to Bad News with Control & Wisdom - Personal Power Life Coaching

This Life Coaching video is designed to help you cope & handle “Bad News” resourcefully.

  • Have you ever received "Bad news"?
  • Can we react to and handle Bad News with Control & Wisdom?💭

We all go through moments in life where we receive “bad” or negative news. Things don’t go our way, a loved one has a health concern, a layoff, a break-up, unpleasant coworker, or any similar situation.
These experiences can feel powerful and grip our attention as something vitally important. As such, our inner wisdom guides us to engage with all of life’s situations and this is where your Personal Power needs to be activated.

Here are some Key Concepts on how to engage with such situations for the greatest wellbeing possible given the circumstances:

 Adopt a new mantra: Mantra of the Moment =

WAIT & SEE

  • Powerful Questions
    • Are you feeling emotional?
    • What emotions are you feeling? Breathe into these feelings; this breathing PAUSE helps you re-center and avert rash behavior.
    • Are you making assumptions?
    • What are the FACTS?
    • Do you need to wait for more information, data or do some research and investigate further?
    • Do you need to take immediate action? If yes, then realize this is your new OUTCOME or AIM/GOAL/OBJECTIVE.
      • Identify your new outcome and align with it in to take the best course of action.
  • Tip: Hold off before making a conclusion...
  • Tip: It is not very helpful to assume without concrete evidence or facts as your thoughts will be based on the unreal.
NLP Presupposition: THE PERSON WITH THE MOST FLEXIBILITY CONTROLS THE SYSTEM

✰ Recognize that you are upset or disturbed because “it” doesn’t meet your Map of Reality or match your expectations (what if you modified your expectations or Map of Reality?)
✰ Gather your facts; do research.
✰ Wait for the results or for further confirmed details, evidence. Once you have the concrete data you can shift focus onto what you can do, your new outcome (i.e. What do you now want given the information at hand?
✰ Bring yourself into the present moment (Take at least 3 deep, mindful breaths while closing your eyes)
✰ Wait before jumping to Assumptions & Conclusions
✰ Pause before any hasty actions or sudden reactionary behavior
✰ Acknowledge your emotions however do your very best to not identify with them. Give your feelings the space required however avoid impulsive actions based on immediate emotional reactions as these tend to be more dramatic, intense and changeable.
✰ Remember kindness - to yourself. This means not being harsh or judgmental on yourself or others as this only facilitates more troublesome emotions and thought pathways. Be nice to yourself.

It main seem difficult in the moment to remember these ideas, however, you can do this.

An excellent way to develop better coping mechanisms in life overall is to develop a regular Meditation practice & connecting deeply with your Higher Power.

Why is Meditation so useful and germane in this regard? Because Meditation enhances your presence, consciousness and awareness - which is about bringing concentration into the present moment and bringing your powerful mind into focus and calming it down from the raging rivers of thoughts and feelings. Meditating on a regular basis will help you bring more peace into your inner world; it enhances self-control, poise, inner clarity and presence.

Meditation helps us overcome impulsive and reactionary behavior and helps you become Master of your Self rather than a helpless victim of feelings. Feelings are fleeting, mercurial and fluctuating, and life consistently reveals itself be defined by its diverse and changing currents no matter who you are. So let us use this knowledge to our advantage, let us work with this mutable energy, let us flow with the wisdom of life and our Creator, and allow more aligned living, thinking, and wellbeing. You are meant to be happy, and you deserve the most joyful life you can imagine and even more! :-)

May we allow the wisdom and love of Spirit to permeate our minds, hearts and souls.

How God Loves - Poem by Jennifer Arcila (Nov. 2, 2016)

How God Loves

I love you -Yes, I do!
I love you - Yes, it’s true!
Do you know how grand you are?
You are born of Source, You are born of Love
You are born of ecstasy,
My divine and artful inspiration,
A unique and utterly sublime creation.

The Spirit of God dwells in you, a sacred union to now renew,
Through you and around you. We are One, ever true

Remember this, my dear, albeit no small feat,
In this awareness, in consciousness - we frequently meet.

In everything you do
and all things gone through,
I always have been and always will be with you.

"I Think, I Breathe" - Poem by Jennifer Arcila (Oct. 31, 2016)

“I Think, I Breathe”

Poem by Jennifer Arcila, Oct. 31, 2016

A troublesome thought pops into your mind...

Simply be Aware and close your eyes
Don’t believe everything you think
Some thoughts, my friend, have no heart; they’re easy, lazy lies,
They flow in streams, link to link, leading many to the brink.

Simply notice; breathe into that thought
bring yourself into your heart center.
The Truth is pure, supreme, and eternal - it cannot be bought.
Let Breath be your loyal, loving mentor.

Let truth float to the surface, for you and all to see,
All in due course, my child; the timing is just right.
Surrender those thoughts to the easy, breezy light.
And so, my child, right now - You simply breathe, simply BE.

* The End - Thank you *
 This quotation is powerful: It is about Consciousness and Awareness of our mind and thoughts. Our Soul and Spirit Self is that energy/voice/inner energy that feels loving, nurturing and balanced; it does not judge or criticise and it's the voice that stays with you throughout your life guiding you to your joyful path through compassion, wisdom and God's grace. You are not your thoughts; thoughts are thoughts and they come and go and change. Anchor yourself, not to your thinking, but rather to that inner presence and energy that feels love, sincerity and connection to a higher power...a creative force that pushes you to be loving, kind, caring, and generous. Trust yourself to discover this Inner Resource and to focus on this particular relationship.
{Image Source: http://redfairyproject.com/2015/04/5149/ }
Remind yourself daily, moment to moment: How am I breathing? Breathe in through the Nose, deeply into the belly, and exhale through the Nose, releasing whatever does not serve your joy and highest good. Let it go and come back to your Inner Peace.

Where does Inspiration come from?

Where does inspiration come from?

I've always been an expressive and creative person and yet recently, in the last 1-2 months I have been experiencing myself as going through a new, enhanced phase of self-expression and creativity. Specifically, I've been more impulsed and motivated to make short videos on positivity, Life Coaching, NLP, wellbeing, gym workouts, and selfies that are linked with some positive message (mainly on Instagram).

Some days I feel like an fountain bursting forth unlimited ideas, concepts, lessons learned, and insights. Other days I will feel myself quieter and calmer...either I want to write a post however no tangible subject that I'm 'feeling', and other times it is just a matter of being too busy with work and life basics.

Ultimately, anything we create and generate requires energy. Indeed, everything in life and the world is energy in one form or another. So when we create anything we are transmuting a preexisting unseen energy, energy that is sourced from ? - Within or from the external world? This strikes me as a more metaphysical question which I don't intend to unravel just right now.

All in all, I've noticed a steadily ascending curve of production and output, which I feel is great. The moment of creating something new, visual or written, that I can share with the world gives me a thrill, sense of accomplishment and personal pride. Truly our global digital age makes it incredibly possible to share content worldwide over across different age groups, nationalities, languages, backgrounds, etc.

So as I continue to create, produce and desire doing so, I naturally wonder: Where does one's passion, drive, enthusiasm or creativity come from? Do we come with a set amount or quatity of "creativity cells" or creative quota, or quotient which we expire once we reach the bottom of capacity?

Or is creativity unlimited, infinite, boundless, eternally multiplying, abounding and able to be increased when we choose?

Can anyone become more creative if they choose doing so?

What are the advantages of being creative - how does it serve us?

These questions only scratch the surface of a meaty topic, a topic for introspection.

It seems to me that if you are creative you will also be more adaptable, flexible and visionary. These 3 key resources are intrinsically linked to any person's success. The creative mindset coupled with these other qualities better enable us to surpass obstacles, take on more new life experiences, be ready for more progress, advancement, promotion; counter challenges with more of a 'can-do' attitude, and it appears to prime you for a life of optimal levels of satisfaction.

If we can be creative and we can adapt to almost any situation.
Being creative, we can be flexible in working our peers and successfully maneuvering all of life's negotiations.
If we are creative, we can indeed visualize and be visionary in creating the life we want and the circumstances that we'd prefer.

With Creativity you can innovate solutions, think outside of the box, stretch the limits, and create something new. This is where entrepreneurs come from; this is the source of all genius inventions that ever were and ever will be.

In closing: It seems that Creativity is quite a powerful asset. How creative are you willing to be?

Timeline Legacy Process - Empower Your Decisions, Empower Yourself, Empower Your Life

Recap - This week's Self-Empowerment Videos:

Early this week I made a video introducing the notion of taking "The Path of Least Resistance" as a type of framework or Guiding Question you can ask yourself when you are making a decision or find yourself in a troublesome or challenging situation. As I finished that video I touched on the idea that decision-making becomes easier, more efficient and straightforward when we take stock of the broader context or circumstances that the decision will affect. Once you make a decision you then check the Ecology - you check if it is a realistic, viable and workable course of action given the practicalities and realities of daily life, existing commitments and the people in your life.

I then shot a follow-up video on making more powerful decisions by going through the Timeline Legacy Process, a Neuro-Linguistic Process, that is designed to help the person get clarity on where they see themselves in future years. You can do it yourself in the privacy of your home, and it may be easier and more powerful if you have a skilled NLP Life Coach who can take you through the process.

Here it is in a nutshell:

Timeline Legacy Process - NLP Technique

You stand in a spot with enough space for you to take 4-6 steps forward (depending on the time increments you choose). You are facing the direction of your imagined future. You are standing in the current day (your 'today'). In other words, your future literally lies ahead of you.

  1. You take a step forward and place yourself 5 years into the future. You are 5 years older; what is your life like? What work are you doing? Who is in your life? Where are you living? How do you feel? What have you accomplished as you had wished?
  2. Take another step forward and imagine yourself 15 years in the future. You are 15 years into the future and you can ask yourself again what your life looks like, who you are with, what work you are doing or are you retired? What kind of an income do you have? Etc.
  3. Take another step forward and see yourself 25yrs older. You can ask the same questions and gauge where you are emotionally, mentally, physically, professionally and spiritually.
  4. Finally, you will take a final step forward and this time you are moving into your post-death experience. This is after you have passed away and left your mark on the world.
  5. Turn around and look back on your life. You can close your eyes (or not) as you mentally re-run the events of your life that you just experienced on your timeline.
  6. What was your legacy? What was your contribution to the world? What mattered most? Which people mattered the most? What was the most important or valuable aspect(s) of your life experience?
  7. From that whole life experience what message would you like to send back to yourself to the you that is living in the current day (the day you are doing this exercise)? Once you identify that message, send it back to the you in the present day.
  8. Once you've sent the message you will walk back through your time i.e. going back in time. Ensure that you are taking steps back so that you are still facing your future yet walking backwards.
  9. Once you reach the current day (today) you will once again be standing in the original position facing your future. Now you will receive the valuable message that the future you sent to the current you. Close your eyes and receive this message.
  10. Once you are sure that your internal self has received and absorbed the message you can acknowledge this in a subtle way (rub hands together lightly, open your eyes, or nod your head) and you can continue with your day with this new knowledge you've received from the future.

Timeline (TL) Legacy Process - Elucidating Values

The Timeline process is designed to generate new ideas and clarity around the things that really matter to you in the long-term. This long-term perspective can help us identify, fine-tune and reconfirm our deeply-held values, or criteria. Values are the guiding stars of a person's behavior, attitudes and fundamental way of seeing the world. They serve as parameters for action (or inaction) and can certainly influence the meaning we ascribe to situations and experiences.

Since our Values shape our Identity, and our Identity is integral to a firm and secure sense of self, our confidence and place in the world (ego).

Values and Identity are inextricably linked.

Thus, it is natural that we protect, defend and cherish our Values. We have seen this evidenced since the beginning of time when civilizations and individuals have defended their religion, independence, gender equality, racial non-discrimination, and suffrage (right to vote).

Living up to our Values reflects congruence, or internal alignment, generates more personal clarity, and reconfirms our identity (Who I am, What I do, What I believe). In other words, the world makes sense and you feel secure in your place in the world and life. Living your highest, deeply-held Values will ideally reflect you at your best and enable living the life you love.

Thus, supporting your Values with the corresponding actions, thoughts, ideas, people and situations will further boost levels of optimal living and personal satisfaction.

This is why congruence and internal alignment are key.

Once you've gone through the TL process and learned, discovered and/or reaffirmed your Values
you can better understand what really matters for you in your life; which activities, people and situations will benefit your overall happiness and reflect you at your best, and living optimally.

It allows you to live with more ease, wisdom and peace; You don't sweat the small stuff (and it's all small stuff?) and to envision Your bigger picture, the great things in store for you, and the amazing possibilities you can create for your future.

Thinking about the future can be frightening or intimidating to some of us, especially when you haven't thought this way before. Perhaps no one has asked you where you see yourself a few years down the line. Or you draw blanks when you try. Or you think that the Greater Powers of the Universe will decide how things play out and you don't have much say in the end.

Regardless of where you stand on this spectrum, going through the Timeline Process will definitely give you feedback you can work with; remember - there is no such thing as Failure only Feedback. You will have more self-awareness and once you begin the process you might find it exciting to discover that you can in fact design your future with your thoughts.

Have fun with it! Use your imagination and ask yourself some powerful, creative 'creation' questions:

- What would I like to see happen?
- You don't know the answer, but imagine if you did know, what would that be?
- If anything were possible what would you see happen?
- Where do you see yourself thriving the most?
- Do you know anyone who already has the life you respect or admire? Which qualities or aspects would you like to have in yours?
- What are you doing when you're at your best?
- Where do you see yourself most in love with life?

In Closing...

I hope you've found this beneficial and relevant. Life is fun, life is amazing, life is a miracle and we are all co-creators in this experience. There are such beautiful and magnificent possibilities before us if we can only envision them, imagine them and then see and feel ourselves attuned to those potentialities. We are only limited by our thinking (Zig Ziglar's Stinkin' Thinkin'); we are only limited by our imagination.

One of my next posts & videos will focus on another NLP process: Fun and Magic with the Reframe Technique.
Here is a taster...
Feeling Lonely? Let's Reframe that!
Comparing yourself to someone else/to others? Let's Reframe that!
Frustrated by your lack of progress? Let's reframe that!
Feeling stuck in a rut? Let's reframe that!

Themes to explore: context of situations, all things being relative, things have meaning we choose to give them, and more.

Thanks and focus on empowering, resourceful thoughts. Life is a product of the quality of our thoughts.

My Morning Ritual - Om/Amen :-)

Today is a new, magnificent day!

Thank you, God. Thank you. Universe.
What kind of thoughts do I want to think and harness?
Where do I want to focus my attention and energy?

Lovers' Sunrise in Seychelles

Rituals....

If you think about it, our daily life and existence is composed of recurring rituals. They come in various spans of time, at different points in the day, week, month year, and can take on a life of their own. The more you do it and the more consistent you become, that ritual becomes ingrained in our self as automatic behavior(s).

For instance, there are rituals such as: how you start your day, how you prepare yourself before you go to work, the things you say or do before a presentation, the way you prepare for bedtime, ritual of going to the gym/exercising and this one encompasses the sub-ritual of how you prepare yourself pre-workout and post-workout (i.e. warm-up and cool-down).

One of the most profound rituals that has transformed my life is my Morning Ritual - the things I do when I wake up and the way my mornings unfold.

In fact, Google "Morning rituals" and you will get 2+ Million results!

Evidently, Morning Rituals are important enough that many famous and successful people have outlined their own processes:

Magnificent Morning Ritual/Routine

I gave birth to my morning ritual 2 years ago when I joined the gym and started weight training. Committing to a healthier and fitter life meant, for me, waking up early, preparing my awesomely delicious coffee, healthy food in the morning and going to the gym before work.

It has evolved over these past 2 years from a bare-bones minimum to a more evolved [dare I say 'enlightened' :-) ] approach, now including meditations, prayer, affirmations, listening to motivational speakers, music, podcasts & making my own motivational videos on social media.

Today's Morning Ritual (25 Mar 2015):

I started my day by saying "Thank You, God. Thank you, Universe. Thank you, Source. Thank you for all that I am and all that I have. Thank you for the magnificent blessings and flowing abundance; the well-being, love and peace in my life. Thank you for my family and friends, and my work, my home, my life, everything that surrounds me. Thank you for blessing us all."

Then I meditate

Today I tried a new one (Youtube) to tap into a universal consciousness meant to give generate more serenity, ease and empowerment - it was wonderful.

Meditation time is part of my daily awakening; I can't go a day without it, in fact.
Some mornings I also listen to or record my own spoken affirmations - a rampage of appreciation, if you will. Inspired by and in the spirit of Abraham Hicks. I love you so much, Abraham! Thank you for coming alive in my life and everything that we've become.

I enjoy varied meditations - it can be on gratitude, feeling happy, peace, love, abundance, enhancing creativity, imagination, past lives - there are hundreds, thousands and probably millions on YouTube. Thank you, YouTube!
I feel so good and ready for my day after meditating, 5min, 10min, or even 15min if I am feeling more time-flexibility.

Then I Affirm.

Powerful Affirmations! The power of Affirming.
I listened to a 6-minute recording of my own spoken affirmations which I recorded yesterday. I've started recording my own since last month and I find it very empowering, uplifting, love-generating and positive. It is also fun!

Some mornings, if I am particularly inspired, I will record a new set of affirmations. I've noticed that they have been improving in terms of scope, strength, empowerment and joy that comes through me and my voice. It feels great to laugh at yourself in a positive way listening to your voice saying happy things to yourself.

If you want to record your own affirmations, you can simply use your phone and I recommend doing them in the morning when you are fresh, mind is clear, and you are overall energized for the new day. If, however, you are not at your best in the morning and rather have a great mood later in the day, record your affirmations at that time - the point is to do so when you are in your 'zone' and feeling awesome about yourself and about life.

I added Affirmations since January 2015, this year, after reading Louise Hay's "You Can Heal Your Life". I love that woman & I am deeply grateful for her contribution to our world community :-).

She has changed and improved millions of lives by generating positive messages of self-love, self-appreciation and self-esteem. What a marvelously beautiful life mission and accomplishment. If you yourself are or have ever struggled with self-esteem, low confidence,self-love and inner struggles, it is worth visiting her site: http://www.louisehay.com/.

I discovered Louise Hay 1.5 years ago and she led me to beloved spiritual teacher, Abraham Hicks. Connecting with AH has helped me improve the quality of my thoughts, my relationships, my appreciation for the world, self-love, and consequently my life has improved dramatically.

~~~
After praying, meditating, & affirming (all this only takes 15-20 minutes overall) I can start my day feeling spiritually and emotionally positioned to make the best of my life today. It is worth the time invested in meditating, affirming and most certainly praying and thanking God for all the goodness of life.
Sometimes I also listen to an uplifting song of praise that really touches my heart and raises my soul's vibration.
Music is extremely powerful and it can totally get you feeling wonderful!
Time is our most valuable commodity - a non-renewable resource - so use it wisely, lovingly and reap the returns of time well invested in your self-improvement.
~~~

Morning Kitchen Ritual

After this awakening process I am really eager to proceed with the Kitchen Ritual - making the coffee, boiling the water for my lemon water + sea salt + herbs (Rhodiola, Gotu Kola, Gingko Biloba + others if required such as for Immunity). The lemon water gets the digestive juices flowing.

I take a scoop of Raw Greens powder which is Alkalizing and very beneficial as the first thing to take into your colon. If it has pro-biotics that is especially good as the healthy gut bacteria will be beneficial to your intestines and colon on an empty stomach.

I cook the egg whites, veggies (if I don't have pre-prepared from the weekend or night before).

Recently I've been focused on going to the gym on a somewhat empty stomach with the aim to optimize fat burning...It is an ongoing process.

While I am cooking and preparing I listen to Motivational podcasts and videos on Youtube to get my mind right, raise my vibration and nourish thinking positively.
~~~
Journaling Intentions
Some days I write down my intentions for the day.
For instance:
"It is my powerful intention to live today with an open heart, to release old fears, let go of criticism and judgments, and embrace the love in my existing relationships."
Or:
"It is my dominant intent to focus on feeling good, to care about how I feel, and to take the path of least resistance."
Once you get started you sort of have this willingness and desire to keep writing more beautiful, empowering intentions. Indeed, it is an enriching experience because you start thinking more about what you want, how you want to behave, the kind of life you want, the way you want to feel, and the awesome day you can experience.
If you look back on your morning intentions at night you may discover that you lived your day actually fulfilling many of your intentions!
The spoken and written word is magical and magnetic.
 ~~~

Video Blogging/Motivational Vids

Finally, I've recently been feeling super inspired to make videos with a motivational message. I infuse them with the most inspired message I'm feeling from the Universe and then I share it with my beautiful community on social media - Facebook and Instagram (for now). I'm keen to make my own Youtube channel soon.

And then I'm off for the gym to build muscle, burn fat, get sexier and have fun!!! My Fun Zone.  :-)

~~~
Closing Words
  • So, do you have a Morning Ritual? What is your routine?
  • How does it make you feel, and could it be improved upon in a pleasing way?
Ultimately, RITUAL is synonymous with HABIT.
Habits make up our character and yield our life experience.
If you are what you do, then what does your Ritual say about you and how you like to live?
Food for thought :-).
Wishing you boatloads of blessings and sunshine.
Love, Jen
Notes from Positive Audio Book "Beyond Positive Thinking" by Dr. Joseph Anthony
Only you can create what you want.
We are creative being and we always have the capacity to build more!
Creating on the conscious level > Make more choices
Right thinking is based on your personal truth > Never settle into self-satisfaction.
Live in present moment yet also important to grow from where we are.
Trust the power within you - Trust your instinct.
Current Sources of dissatisfaction i.e. motivation:
-          Body/Physique improvement
-          Financial growth
-          Career Achievement – Creating something new, being recognized
-          Learning more, get smarter.
Life is a game.
What game am I playing? I choose to play happiness, abundance and faith.
How can I feel more motivated and excited about my work and daily work???
I’m asking for more motivation, inspiration – PUSH to move myself with positive, healthy reinforcement. I want to be guided and pushed through by my INTERNAL POSITIVE DESIRE! Not fear, tight deadline, stress or external pressure…
